| Porto Moniz

Porto Moniz at the north-western end of the island is one of the most visited places, this is partly due to the natural swimming pools formed by the crest-like lava flows, which rise from the sea.
The famous old narrow north coast road (now a one way only ) from Porto Moniz leading to São Vicente is still very much in use despite a newer one having been built and still is a touristic attraction.

| Seixal / Ribeira da Janela

Ribeira da Janela set between Seixal and Porto Moniz has an important hydroelectric plant.
Further west there is the quiet Seixal village also by the sea. Taking a right turn will take you to an amazingly green paradise called Chão da Ribeira, there are few or no houses here as it is a conservation area.

Flowers, lush vegetation and an attractive coast line makes this district a must see. Fajã/Faja of the Achadas da Cruz are not to be forgotten where a cable car will take down the steep coast to sea level wonders.
