Description:
Porto Moniz, situated at the north-western end of the island , is one of the places most visited by tourists. This is partly due to the natural swimming pools, formed by the crest-like lava flows, which rise from the sea. An important catle fair takes place every year in August, also attracts many people.
Porto Moniz on the northwest coast attracts many tourists because of its natural built swimming pools in the cliffs, its beauty and the added delight of rock and sea fishing. As far as I know, here is Madeira's only campsite, Parque de Campismo de Porto Moniz. It's open all year. Nearby you can find excellent seafood restaurants. The views in the mountains are fabulous.
