Description:
Ribeira Brava is situaded by the sea, at the end of the 'ribeira' (stream) of the same name.
Ribeira Brava has in town center a litle fort called Forte de São Bento. There were other forts in the village but have since been destroyed by the great floods of 1803, the São Bento fort is what is left and has been restored. This litle fort armed with powerfull canons played an important part in the defence against pirates.
